To promote education, growth and fellowship in the sport/hobby of radio-controlled model aviation.
We practice the full spectrum of the hobby from training new pilots through competition flying. We host both non-competitive flying events and open AMA-sanctioned contests for interested members. We prize growth in the hobby and fully support helping new flyers.
Our club field is located off of Lyman St. in the town of Northborough, MA. Our flying site is part of the Massachusetts Department of Fisheries and Wildlife property. We fly off of a tightly mowed grass field that is 400 ft. long by 80 ft. wide with a NW/SE orientation. The field has a number of aircraft set-up tables and we have ample space to set-up pop up tents and seating to stay cool and relax in the summer months. We have dedicated member and guest parking. You can find the driveway for the field just South of the Lyman St. / Talbot Rd. junction. Link for directions to the field.
Since the beginning of the COVID pandemic, we hold monthly club meetings virtually the first Monday of each month (except for June, July and August) at 7:30 pm via video conference. We address club business at each meeting along with showing off newly completed airplanes, sharing progress on projects as well as sharing information and advice on the hobby with each other and newcomers alike.
Guests who are interested in participating should e-mail cmrcm.org@gmail.com for login information.
CMRCM hosts a number or organized events throughout the year as part of our efforts to care for our flying site, foster enjoyment of the hobby and promote fellowship among our members.

CMRCM Application
PLEASE NOTE: All CMRCM members are required to hold a Full Membership with the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) and they must register with the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to lawfully fly an unmanned aerial vehicle. Additionally, the FAA now requires that all flyers successfully complete the TRUST safety test.
For everyone's safety, new members with previous model flight experience are required to complete a proficiency flight sequence witnessed by a club officer in order to fly solo. Pilots new to the hobby will be required to have flight training with a CMRCM instructor in order to fly solo.
CMRCM offers free orientation flights to prospective members and flight instruction by a number of experienced CMRCM member instructors. CMRCM also participates in the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) introductory pilots program. This program allows us to provide introductory instruction to non-AMA members so they can try out out the hobby and see if it's a fit for them before committing to AMA membership.
PLEASE NOTE: Orientation flights and flight instruction is performed on a voluntary basis and instructors are not available at all times. Tuesday evenings during the summer is an ideal time to arrange for instruction, since Tuesday is our scheduled training day. To get started, just come out to the field and introduce yourself, or contact cmrcm.org@gmail.com for more information and to schedule an orientation or training session.
Our instructors do an excellent job making new members feel as comfortable as possible while learning to fly. They are experienced pilots with extensive knowledge and enthusiasm for the hobby.
Please reach out to us and we'll be happy to provide additional information.
